Welcome to our NEW SITE! It’s been 11 years of continuous accomplishments, growing from one location in downtown Sandusky, now with three locations, including our Berlin Heights Unit and Huron Youth Connection units, as well as our outreach programs at schools. Along with a name change a couple of years ago from Boys and Girls Club of Sandusky to Boys and Girls Club of Erie County; the demand continues to grow, affected by economic conditions; families need an inexpensive and safe place for kids to go for after school activities, help with homework, programming with trained staff, and a place to nourish their hunger. Through our programs and collaborations we provide this and more. The support of the community continues to be the hallmark of our existence. Local donations greatly impact every child in our programs. We greatly appreciate the support our community has given to us, from the local foundations, financial investors, parents of members, friends and neighbors, and corporate sponsors, together, through our hardworking board and dedicated staff; we have reached out and touched the lives of thousands of children in this community. Please consider us the next time you donate and know that your donation stays here in our communities. As we look forward to another school year we wish the best for you and your family.
Yours in community service, Bill Ehrnsberger President Board of Trustees

“Not everybody has the time or resources to physically take a young person under their wing, but we have an opportunity for you to “adopt” a young person without incurring the responsibility of childcare, discipline or any of the other things that bog down a relationship with a young person. We will even help with homework!!”
Join our 300 Club! A donation of $300 to the Boys & Girls Club will cover the expenses of all the programs and activities for one child for one year. One hundred percent of your donation will stay here serving the youth of Erie County. Click here for more information on how you can help!
In its 2007 "Philanthropy 400" report, The Chronicle of Philanthropy placed Boys & Girls Clubs of America in the No. 1 position among youth organizations for the 13th consecutive year.
Message from Gil Vaughn,
Executive Director
The Boys & Girls Club of Erie County has a vision to provide the youth of Erie County with opportunities they might not otherwise get. We just finished a very busy summer of doing just that. This past summer was filled with swimming, park visits, picnics and daily visits to Sandusky’s new splash pad. We had sailors and fishermen as well as tennis players and even a walker or two. We visited other Boys & Girls Clubs, spent a day at the Girls Scout Camp and we had mentoring in our Club in conjunction with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Our kids learned puppet shows and met a local photographer. We sang for our friends at the Lutheran Memorial Nursing home and at the Erie County Fair.
We are very excited to begin this year with a combination of something old and something new. First we are still serving members from the same locations in downtown Sandusky and the Huron Library. We are anticipating serving up to 80 boys and girls as we kick off the 2009 school year. The “new” is our most recent endeavor of opening a unit in Berlin Heights, OH. The community has been most responsive and receptive to our programs. We have an open house in September and we invite and encourage the entire community to come visit their newest resource for serving the youth of Berlin Heights.
As we roll into the 2009/10 program year, we want to extend a hearty invitation to all youth who have not visited their local Boys & Girls Club to do so. Providing opportunities, enabling and inspiring all youth to become well balanced adults is our mission and we are committed to reaching out to and opening our doors for each and every young person in Erie County.
