Our Mission & History

Our Mission

To enable all young people, especially those to need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
17 Years of GREAT FUTURES in Erie County
In 1998 the Boys & Girls Club of Erie County began as a LEADS project (recently renamed as Leadership Erie County).  Leadership Erie County is a non-profit, service-oriented organization that prepares civic-minded individuals through training to serve their communities. The group decided that an after-school program for youth was needed in the community and began researching the Boys & Girls Club of America.  With proven programming to help youth become productive, caring, and responsible citizens the group realized bringing the Boys & Girls Club to Erie County was a great idea.

On July 4, 1998, the Boys & Girls Club of Erie County was established and opened it's doors at the First United Congregational Church of Christ.  In 2010, the late Ruth F. Parker suggested we use her property on Cleveland Road to open a Teen Center.  This past December Ruth made one last generous donation to the Club by donating the building to us so the teens always have a place to go.

Since 1998 over 3,000 youth have come through the Boys & Girls Club of Erie County.
